| CENTENNIAL WOODS’ “GREEN” SIDING FEATURED IN 2008 SOUTHERN LIVING IDEA HOUSE |
LARAMIE, WYO. (November 13, 2008)—Centennial Woods, the Laramie-based company that maintains and then reclaims Wyoming snowfence for interior and exterior residential and commercial use around the world, announced today that its exterior siding product has been featured on the 2008 Southern Living Idea House in Whisper Mountain near Asheville, North Carolina. “When I first saw the snowfence being installed I knew that this material was going to enhance the entire design of the Idea House,” said Frank Craige, Idea House manager for Southern Living. magazine. “The texture was the first thing that caught my eye. The weathered tones of grays, deep shadow lines of the shiplap application and natural wood grain mixed to give a superior look and feel." "Centennial Woods recycled Wyoming snowfence is great,” said William Allison, lead architect and partner at Allison Ramsey Architects of Ashville, North Carolina, the architectural firm responsible for designing the Southern Living Idea House. “It made the garage and guest house look timeless, with much more character than would otherwise have been achieved with ‘normal’ siding. We also used it inside on the upstairs porch, where it added a rustic, warm feel. And, it's green!" Allison Ramsey Architects is known for its extensive work in new urbanism as well as its “respectful” design philosophy; where architects, builders and clients come together to maintain a property’s history and environmental character. “When EcoBuilders was selected to design the Southern Living Idea House, we began gathering materials and products that aligned with our architectural vision and green mission. Centennial Woods reclaimed snowfence was an immediate and obvious choice for the exterior of the carriage house. We used 2,000 linear feet in a horizontal format and it looks fantastic,” said Josh Scala, general manager at EcoBuilders of Asheville, North Carolina. “Interestingly, we also used local barn wood for a few interior rooms,” said Scala. “That’s when it became very clear that Centennial Woods reclaimed snowfence is far superior—in form and function—to barn wood. It is consistent in size and strength, color and texture, and every board is clean and dry.” Ecobuilders built North Carolina’s first Healthy Built Home in 2003. Since then, 100 percent of the company’s homes have been third-party green certified. About Centennial Woods Centennial Woods’ reclaimed wood is naturally dried for decades by one of the state’s greatest natural resources—the Wyoming wind—which produces an intensely beautiful, perfectly dried, strong and true reclaimed board. Centennial Woods is a member of the US Green Building Council and is proud to be one of Wyoming’s great green products. Learn more on the web at centennialwoods.com. ### |
