Centennial Woods Reclaims Wood from Wyoming Snowfence

That’s right. Wyoming. The land of fairy-tale summers made of brilliant blue skies, warm, dry days and cool nights. Come November, it becomes a blustery winter wonderland clear until May. It’s also where millions of feet of Wyoming snowfence line the highways and byways bravely weathering the elements to make travel possible any time of the year. It turns out that Wyoming’s extreme climate, pristine mountains and prairies, and sparse population is absolutely perfect for weathering wood.

100% Reclaimed & Recycled

Before Centennial Woods began harvesting Wyoming snowfence, older boards were often left on the frame too long and burned or thrown in a landfill when replaced. In 1999, Centennial Woods discovered the strength and beauty of Wyoming snowfence and vowed to rescue and reuse it. By developing an international market for this untapped Wyoming resource, Centennial Woods has repurposed more than 5 million feet of snowfence, saving snowfence owners more than $9 million and avoiding emission of more than 9,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

All Natural & Untreated

Centennial Woods’ reclaimed Wyoming snowfence is made of sustainably harvested, fast-growing ponderosa pine and lodge pole pine from the Rocky Mountain region. Unlike most barnwood or salvaged building boards, it has never been treated and may remain totally natural when reused. This means no harmful off-gassing or old lead paint will make its way into your home.

Centennial Woods is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and a charter member of the USGBC Wyoming chapter.

Centennial Woods provides only 100% recycled products. They have been featured in Mountain Living’s Natural Dream Homes in Colorado and in Southern Living’s Idea House in North Carolina. They are a central design element in Whole Foods Markets and Bass Pro Shops across North America.
